MODULES THAT ARE NOT FINISHED BY YOUR LAST IN CAR LESSON:
Please finish them at your soonest convenience (remember you have one year to complete the course from the day you started your modules). Once finished, please email: modules@thedrivingschool.ca to let me know you have completed them. It can take 3 + weeks to process your information from the time I receive your email. This is why I strongly recommend that you finish them prior to your last in-car lesson.
When I process your information with the MTO, you will receive a text and you can follow the instructions below.
WE NOW BOOK YOUR ROAD TEST AND CERTIFY YOU (CERTIFICATE WITH THE MTO) ON YOUR LAST IN CAR LESSON:
The student will have their road test booked on their last in-car lesson. If you need to cancel the test, it’s your responsibility to cancel the test. You can cancel it via the www.drivetest.ca website but keep in mind that you need to cancel it with a minimum of 48 hours of your test.
PROOF OF COMPLETION FOR YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY:
We will register you with the MTO during your last in-car lesson. (as long as all fees are paid and there are no outstanding memory cards owing and your modules are finished). When your insurance company ask you for proof of completion, head over to any Service Ontario office and request: "I NEED PROOF THAT I TOOK DRIVING SCHOOL".
This will cost you $12.
THIS IS THE FORM YOU GIVE TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. (I recommend that you make a copy of this for your record)
Remember you CAN'T drive home with your G2 unless you added insurance to your vehicle.
DAY OF YOUR TEST:
On the day of your road test, arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to the road test time. Park in the back (back in) and walk around to the Drivetest center and check in via the computer. (YOU can not check in with more than 30 mins) Make sure you know your license plate #, make and color of your vehicle that you will be tested in as they will ask you for this information when you are checking in. It will ask for your "parking spot", just type in "back" and they will find you.
ALSO, will your vehicle will pass the Drive Test Standards??? For example, any cracks / chips in the windshield or a brake light that is not working can be a reason for a “non-fit” vehicle and you will not be able to take your test. Make sure you your gas light is not on and there is nothing in the back seat that can be a "projectile". These are reasons for them to cancel your test on the spot.
www.drivetest.ca for additional information regarding the road test.
Visit: https://drivetest.ca/find-a-drivetest-centre/service-disruptions/ To ensure your test is not cancelled.
We will register you on-line with the MTO, it will show in the Drive Test’s system. You do not need to bring any documentation / proof of completing from our driving school to your road test.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PARENTS:
Limit friends allowed in the vehicle. (Ensure they read the back of the G2 Temporary license) Set rules and make sure you enforce them as a new driver needs to understand the consequences of their actions.
Remember that any “at fault” crashes or tickets will result in an insurance premium increase and can affect all of your vehicles on that policy for up to 10 years.
Well, as mentioned before, the adventure begins. The first 6 months are likely to be challenging as new drivers continue to gain experience. Remember that my phone is always on if you should have any questions or concerns.
Stay safe on the roads!
